Funky Romantic?

I just loved this little cartographer's chest so much that I had to make it work. It's solid walnut and fits a sheet of scrapbook paper perfectly, I painted it "Cozumel", which is my new favorite paint color for everything, then polished the pretty little brass button knobs. What resulted was the funkiest little romantic piece of furniture ever. EVER! Once I paired it with my newly painted yellow bamboo mirror, it was magic. I'm in love...

Chest - $240 (on sale)
Sunny yellow bamboo mirror - $32 (on sale)

Decoupaged Dresser

I got bored with my white bedroom furniture a while ago and decided to decoupage the drawers. I chose a very modern silver for the top row, a light teal wood grain for the second, and a faux red leather for the bottom row. I loved the way it turned out, but as previously blogged, I'm redecorating. It was a Malm Ikea dresser, now it's all dressed up! I, of course, am an adult (most of the time), but I also think it would be awesome in a children's room.

She's a beaut! And $300 o.b.o.

Tiffany Blue... need I say more?

Although the picture cannot capture the true color of this side/couch table, it is a true Tiffany blue. The handles are equally as impressive. They are brushed silver with an inlaid white enamel swirly pattern. Literally every person that has seen this in my house has loved it and wanted it. I'm finally willing to part with it, but only because I'm redecorating. It's solid wood, I believe it's pine, but don't quote me on it.

A perfect little splash of color for any humdrum room.

Yours for $220 o.b.o (on sale)

Come check it out!

Delightful Dessert Stands

I love the idea of having a tea party with assorted treats on cleverly mismatched dessert stands. Here's the first three I'm ready to offer up! Stay tuned though, there are a LOT more to come.

"The Double T" - Dinner sized plate with a grey contemporary design and silver stand - $22 (on sale)

"The Sunflower" - Dessert sized plate with a crystal stand - $12 (on sale)

"The Simple Silver" - Dinner sized plate with simple silver edges with a silver stand - $22 (on sale)

P.S. The little one looks fantastic stacked on the big one. (Why does that sound dirty?)

Peace! Chelsey

Mid-Century Magic

I worked on this piece (like so many other pieces I've found) expecting it to end up in my house. Unfortunately I think I'll have to pass it on to the highest bidder.

This is a gorgeous mid-century modern walnut dresser built by Johnson/Carper, which was a renowned builder of fine furniture from the 1930's to 1960's. It is built of solid walnut wood. The top had been replaced by a shabby laminate, which I replaced with a gorgeous piece of pine. I stained it to match the piece perfectly and put multiple coats of polyurethane on it for durability. The handles are original and totally amazing. This piece is REAL furniture, it's perfectly built and has dove-tail joints. This is no ikea dresser. (I'm not knocking ikea, I own half their catalogue, but I love the real deal!)

I love this dresser!! The photos don't do it justice.

Peace, Chels

Pretty in Pinkish

I found these lovelies in a little vintage shop in Snohomish, Washington. The pink/peach aluminum canisters were calling my name from the highest corner shelf in the massive store. I found quite a few cherished objects, but I'm not quite sure I want to part with them, so I'm starting with these and we'll see about the rest. The largest canister has the fading "flour" emblem and the smallest has the "coffee" emblem. The middle sized one has no markings, why? I have no clue. The set of three can be yours for $32 (on sale).

I'm pretty sure Ward Cleaver gave these to his bride, June, as a wedding gift...back in the day.

Enjoy!

Quiet Like a Monkey Farm.

Things look quiet around here. But don't be fooled. We have actually been so busy we are selling things out of Chelsey's garage before we even have a chance to list it! So we'd like to offer a big hearty thanks to everyone for their support. Behind the scenes we have been doing Black Honey photo shoots and working our actual jobs while simultaneously creating new items to post. So stay tuned because there is a lot going on behind this quiet facade, and it's about to blow wide open.

Thanks, Crazy Yard Sale on the 4th South Off-Ramp.

One day, while on a buying trip, we were about to get on the freeway when we saw two large flatbed trucks full of furniture with a huge painted sign reading, Yard Sale! We pulled over into the weeds, climbed up and scrounged around for about a half an hour by ourselves, just rummaging through all the stuff. Some of the things we found there were insane and some insanely cool. Here are some of the items from the crazy flatbed "yard" sale.

What the hud are these? Not sure, really. They are thinly sliced pieces of wood stained different colors and cut into shapes, then layered together to form little pictures. Everyone will have to comment on them after seeing them in your house. If you don't like visitor's asking you, "Where on earth did you get those! They are AWESOME!" then don't buy these little gems.

There are limited amounts. The availability is listed under each pic. Each is priced accordingly. Measure at 8 1/2 by 10 3/4. Essentially, 9x11. Still in original packaging. Each has slight variations in color and appearance, making every one an original. Some are better quality than others. (The wood used, how the color dyes took, etc.) Please read short descriptions.
